Casa Terena is about three hundred years old, and was once the Bishop's mansion, a courthouse (and jail!) and a school. Now it is a small, intimate hotel with delightful rooms and friendly English, French, Dutch and Italian-speaking hosts.

Situated in a cobbled street, just forty metres from the castle, it has panoramic views over the Alentejo plains. It has been beautifully renovated and transformed into a small hotel with just six double rooms and a guests-only dining room.

Living Room
The bedrooms, all with full bathroom, are attractively decorated with artifacts from former Portuguese colonies in Africa, Asia an South America - gathered by the owners on their extensive travels. This is also reflected in the delicious evening meals, prepared on request.

This corner of the Alentejo is unspoiled by tourism and there is an old-fashioned friendliness and genuine hospitality from the local people. The hosts will be happy to help you plan your trips to the most interesting and attractive parts of this special place.
