We
welcome you to the majestic north coast of Madeira, where the mountains
fall into the surfed sea. This is the place to relax and for mountain hikes.
Casa das Videiras
lies in the picturesque village of Seixal, 100 meters from the sea, 500
meters from the natural pools and the black sandy beach.
Come and experience
authentic village life, enjoy the good and reasonable restaurants next
door and breath the air of times past.
The house was
built in 1867 and restored in 1995 and is charmingly decorated. The garden
cottage can house one couple, and the main house 1 to 3 couples.
There
is a reception or drawing room at the top. On the lower level there is
a living room, a television and video or recreational area, a dining area
for classic style dinners and suppers, and a kitchen and pantry area, where,
if your needs be, you can do your own self-catering. The rest of the bottom
area which, incidentally, was decorated with Madeiran adornments to a style
and taste of that of a Norwegian interior, is devoted to the reception
and collection of soft warm and fresh breezes.
Here too the dappled sunlight
will seductively lull you to sleep as it comes through the attractive satin
gren shutters - that open as doors to the patio - which in turn is shaded
by the traditional and characteristic vine lintel.
Yet, if you feel more need
for a brighter sunnier afternoon you may want to sit under the umbrella
in our garden alongside the house. You can still enjoy a cool drink on
the open air verandah-style living area out in the garden.
Activities:
This is the north
coast where you will be able to do mountain and levada (water way) walks.
You are next to the world heritage ethnic laurel forest.
The sea is good
for swimming, diving and do not forget fishing.
What about just
enjoying the good restaurants, or making the food yourself in the kitchen,
and just relaxing.
Rates
Rooms 1 and 2
are 50 Euros a day.
Room 3 with
no view is 40 Euros a day
The garden house
with two twin beds and a sleeping sofa is 70 Euros a day.
